NEW DEVELOPMENTS AT VALLNORD FOR WINTER 2006-07
- Thanks to the new 1.2-km Pont Pla tunnel between La Massana and the centre of Andorra, it is now possible to reach the Northern Valleys in a maximum of 10 minutes, without queues or traffic jams.
- Completion of the Farrera Negra vertical underground parking facility, with a total of 540 new parking spaces and a walkway that will link it directly with the La Massana cable car, making it unnecessary to cross the road.
- Extension of and introduction of themes to the children’s snow park in the Pal sector, encompassing an area of 30,000 m2, a new conveyor belt, a games zone and obstacles geared to progression and learning. The snow park in Pal is thus set to become the finest in the Pyrenees.
- New theme-based family slope in the Pedres Blanques area, close to the children’s snow park, with various fun obstacles adapted for children and adults alike over the entire course of the descent (more than 600 m long).
- Continuing with the extension of the beginners’ area in Arinsal, a second “Esquirol” conveyor belt is to be installed and the “Escola” slope is to be widened.
- New lake with a capacity for 70,000 m3 of water, to guarantee the production of artificial snow throughout the entire season in the various sectors in Pal (and Setúria).
- Modernisation of the artificial snow network with 30 new, state-of-the-art guns.
In Ordino-Arcalís specifically, the amount of snow cannons has been increased, and there are 3 new and modern snow grooming machines.
- General improvements in each and every one of the restaurants in Pal, Arinsal and Arcalís.
- New “Freestyle Start Area” in the Pal sector.
- New “Bully” snow-grooming machine with an articulated tiller for the preparation of the Freestyle Area in Arinsal.
- At the end of the 2006/07 season, work will begin on a new 6-seat disengageable chair lift in the Cubil area in Pal, to be inaugurated in the 2007/08 season.
- Continuation of the project to improve the Las Marrades slope in Arinsal, with a view to it being possible for it to function fully for the entire 2007/08 season and to it becoming a genuine “way back home” to the village of Arinsal.
